WHO WE ARE!

The Lord will go ahead of you.

Gandhinagar Gujarati Catholic Parivaar, Established on July 8, 1998 Gujarati Catholic families staying in the capital city of Gandhinagar have their own identity, culture, and establishment. About 200 Gujarati Catholic families coming from different parts of Gujarat and staying in Gandhinagar have now accepted Gandhinagar as their motherland. Most of the families were staying in government quarters in different sectors from 1970 to 1990. There was no independent infrastructure for St. Xavier school and it was run as a government building in sector-20. Since there was no church in the city, Holy Mass was serviced every Sunday in this government building. The church was built and inaugurated in 1990. St. Xavier school also started functioning in its own independent building in 1990.

The number of Catholic families gradually kept increasing and a stage came when these families started to feel an urge to have their own social organisation on the platform on which multi-facet socio-economic and cultural activities could be organised. Eventually, after a lot of thought processes and deliberations among the senior and leading members of the Catholic community, a decision was taken to form an organisation in the name of Gandhinagar Gujarati Catholic Parivaar( GGCP). It was formally launched on July 8, 1998, in its very first convention under the auspicious presence of renowned writer and activist as Chief Guest late Shri Joseph Macwan and late Fr Anil Macwan, S.J. The GGCP is registered as Charitable Trust and is actively working since then for the overall growth, progress, and development of the Gujarati Catholic community residing basically in Gandhinagar. Various educational, socio-economic, and cultural programmes have been undertaken to motivate, guide, and support the children, youth, women, and all the members of the families. Annual Day programmes are regularly organized every year with eminent personalities of our Catholic community as its chief guest and guest of honor. The scholar students receive scholarships every year from the funds donated by the members of Parivaar. The members who get promotions in their services, who retire from the service, who have made exceptional contributions towards the development of our community, and those whose achievements are laudable, are all honored during the Annual Day Programme of the GGCP.

Keeping in mind the requirements of financial support for various purposes of our community, the GGCP has also created a financial wing namely Gandhinagar Gujarati Catholic Parivaar Credit Society. An amount of Rs. 2,00,000 lakhs is available to the members very promptly at a very low rate of interest.

The women’s wing of GGCP is also very active with various activities and programmes. GGCP is also taking care of the religious requirements of its members and in the initial years of its creation, GGCP organised pilgrimage to Khambholaj continuously for five years which was overwhelmingly participated by children, youth, women, and the other members.

GGCP is also very active in its mission of monetary support to the organisations and societies and institutions working for the welfare and development of our community. Members of GGCP visit such organisations and institutions every year during the holy season and extend financial support through donations.

It has been a satisfying journey of 23 years so far and we wish to continue with the same spirit by the Blessings of our Lord Jesus Christ.

In a world where you can be anything, be kind.
